Lemminkäisen Tie (Kuopion Kaupunginteatteri, Finland 1986), is built on the texts of an episode of the Finnish Kalevala by Elias Lönnroth/Marita Yama, with ritualistic elements, group theatre and physical expression inspired by Asian theatre; with Hannu Salminen as Lemminkäinen and Helkka-Maria Kinnunen as Kyllikki, set and costumes by Annaleena Wegelius.

With this production, Maya made her break-through in Finnish theatre. In the picture Hannu Salminen and Seija Pitkänen.

The production got the Tampere Summer Theatre Festival’s Award.
